The social learning theory by Albert Bandura talks about the importance of observational learning, imitation and modeling. His most famous experiment was the ? Bobo Doll? study in 1961. In this experiment, made a movie in which a woman was beating a doll and shouting aggressive words. In was shown to a group of children. After that, the children were allowed to play in a room with the same doll. They immediately began to beat the doll down imitating the same actions and words the woman had in the movie. Cuing and Self-Efficacy are also other contributions from Bandura. Cuing refers to actions that make stimuli more outstanding and those more likely to be noticed. Self-Efficacy, refers to the higher goals challenges people set for themselves and their commitment to them. Bandura’s great contribution to psychology brought him many awards and honors. He became the president of the American Psychological Association and the Western Psychological Association. He received twelve honorary degrees from distinguished universities like the University of British Columbia, University of Rome, University of Salamanca, Indiana University, University of New Brunswick, and many others. He has also awarded the Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology Award by the APA in August 2004. Albert Bandura proved to be one of the greatest minds in psychology. His studies and achievements will be an inspiration to other people that want to become a psychologist. He will always be remembered for his valuable contribution to the study of human behavior. As reading his life, Albert Bandura is a psychologist based in modeling. His experiments show him and us that most of the time people imitate behaviors they have seen from other people. For example, a small girl who likes to try on make-up and heels, she does it because sometimes she sees her more putting on make-up and heels to go to work or to dinner.
